Achimota Retail Centre (ARC) has unveiled a packed calendar of events, giveaways, and entertainment and has pulled out all the stops to make this year’s Christmas season an indelible episode for shoppers and fun seekers in Accra.
The festivities at ARC kicked off with a big bang on December 1st, with a Birthday Giveaway Contest that is already putting smiles on the faces of many birthday boys and girls. Throughout the month, shoppers born within the month of December can indulge in retail therapy and enter the contest by visiting ARC’s social media pages (achimotaretailcentre.com) on Facebook and Tik-Tok for a chance to win amazing prizes.
ARC issued a strong signal on its intentions for entertainment and recreation for its patrons this season, when on December 5th, they brought in the Kwanpa Band and gave them the green light to literally, ‘bring the house down’ with their energetic performance, as ARC celebrated Farmer’s Day in style. This was followed at the weekend (on December 7th), by the visit of the comical socialite, Funny Face, on a singular mission: to light up the night at ARC’s special Tree Lighting Ceremony.
As has been the case every December for the past decade, the centre is aglow in seasonal splendour, creatively refashioned and caroused in dazzling décor that captures the essence of the yuletide season.
As the Christmas frenzy builds up, ARC is hosting a series of exciting events, including a soulful performance on December 13 by the youthful and highly sought after choral brigade, the Dual Chorale. And for the Instagram generation, – the genzees, a well packaged Selfie Contest Giveaway has been set for December 12th and 24th, where contestants can show off their festive spirit and win big. Shoppers and revellers at the Centre can take fancy selfies with the Christmas décor and post on any of ARC’s social media platforms for a chance to win prizes.
But that’s not all – Santa’s Grotto is coming to ARC from December 19th to 30th, and kids (as well as the kids-at-heart) will be welcome to meet the big man in red and get their photos taken. On December 23rd, shoppers can grab their trolleys and dash for prizes in the Festive Trolley Dash, while the celebrated Olive Evangel Choir spreads holiday cheer with soul-stirring Carols.
The fanfare rumbles through the Christmas holidays, and on December 26th, ARC sets up the perfect ambience for Boxing Day shoppers and revellers, with a rocking ‘Boxing Day Live Band’ performance; then, as the clock ticks on New Year’s day, sax soloist, MickSax takes centre stage with some of his rich, resonant sounds, to envelope the walkways with those popular lyrical improvisations for which he is famous. Shoppers and revellers will feel serenaded by the velvety rhythms throughout the day.
Alongside all the entertainment and amusement, what may particularly delight ARC patrons are the seasonal discount offers and new deals which follow the bonanza experience of the sidewalk sale and recent Black Friday sale…many of the offers of which are still running till the end of the year.
It is worthy of note that ARC’s family of tenants has now grown further with the arrival of Hollard Insurance, reputedly Ghana’s first virtual insurer, EyeSurance, an eye care brand dedicated to raising funds for persons living with blindness and other forms of disabilities, and Nart Kiddie Care – an accredited specialist in baby and children products.
