The Member of Parliament for Wa East, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has announced a full educational scholarship package for the district’s top-performing candidate in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
According to the MP, any student who attains an aggregate score between six (6) and ten (10) and emerges as the overall best candidate will benefit from complete sponsorship, from Senior High School through to the tertiary level.
Dr. Jasaw made this known during a working visit to several Junior High Schools across the district, where he assessed the ongoing BECE mock examinations being organised under his support.
The mock exams, now an annual initiative, are designed to better prepare candidates for their final examinations and improve overall academic performance in the area.

Beyond student-focused interventions, the MP also revealed plans to set up a dedicated committee to design incentive schemes for hardworking teachers in the district. He noted that teachers remain central to Wa East’s steady academic progress and deserve recognition for their efforts.
Speaking directly to the candidates, Dr. Jasaw encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their studies as they prepare for the BECE.
He was joined on the tour by the District Chief Executive for Wa East, Hon. Adamu Sayibu, the Wa East District Director of Education, and executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency.
The accompanying officials also urged teachers to stay committed to their responsibilities to help further raise educational standards in the district.
