The National Service Scheme (NSS) has clarified that funds are available and processes are underway to settle the remaining arrears owed to national service personnel.

This comes after a group calling itself the Concerned National Service Scheme (NSS) Personnel Association of Ghana (CONSPAG) announced a nationwide strike effective Wednesday, July 3, 2024, until their allowances are paid.

In a swift response, the National Executive Council of the National Service Personnel Association, in a statement on Wednesday, announced that the Secretariat has released payment for April and expects it to reflect in personnel accounts on July 5, 2024.

Addressing the concerns regarding when the remaining arrears will be made, the Head of Corporate Affairs at the NSS, Armstrong Esaah, noted that processes have begun for the remaining arrears to be paid.

“We have the money ready. We want to assure all our national service personnel that money is ready for the payment of their allowances for the remaining month by next week. They should be rest assured.

“If you know the record of the National Service Scheme, you will bear testimony that the scheme is one of the government institutions that has the safest financial structure.

“The allowance may delay a week or two, sometimes a month, but it will never go unpaid. So, I want to assure all of them that money is ready, processes have been completed, and by next Friday, the May allowances will also be paid,” he stated.
