Four individuals seeking to replace Manhyia South Member of Parliament as the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate for the 2024 elections in the Constituency have been cleared to contest the upcoming internal elections by the election committee.

The NPP’s Manhyia South Parliamentary seat has been left vacant following the elevation of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Five prospective aspirants picked up nomination forms, but only four of them were able to file to continue with the process.

Supporters of the aspirants on Tuesday, July 9, gathered at the party’s office while the vetting was underway.

The committee after the vetting did balloting for the aspirants and said all is set for the Parliamentary elections on Sunday, July 14.

Danquah Smith Buttey, the New Patriotic Party’s National First Vice Chairman called for a clean campaign ahead of the elections on Sunday.

The candidates include the biological brother of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Owusu Afriyie Prempeh who is number one on the ballot, a private legal Practitioner also placed number two on the ballot.

The number three candidate on the ballot is Akwasi Coker Gyambibi and an Assembly Member for the Manhyia Electoral area, James Owusu Boakye secured number four on the ballot.

A total of 569 delegates are expected to vote in Sunday’s primary.
