The National House of Chiefs has called on Ghanaians to uphold democratic principles and avoid any form of electoral manipulation, violence, or media coercion as the 2024 general elections approach.

Emphasizing the need for free, fair, and transparent elections, the Chiefs urged all citizens to respect the rule of law and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

This appeal is particularly important in light of concerns about electoral violence and political vigilantism in Ghana. The Chiefs’ message highlights the critical role of peace and stability in ensuring a successful election season.

In a statement issued on November 1, the Registrar of the National House of Chiefs, Anthony Yeboah Tabiri, said, “The National House of Chiefs urges all Ghanaians to uphold the law, especially with the December 7th presidential and parliamentary elections approaching.
“Ghana proudly boasts of three decades of democratic elections and peaceful transfer of power, earning recognition as West Africa’s beacon of democracy.

“The House emphasizes that all citizens should refrain from undermining democracy through electoral manipulation, violence, or media coercion. Instead, stakeholders should promote free, fair and transparent elections. The Electoral Commission and its related agencies must discharge their duties impartially. ”

It advised the Electoral Commission (EC) and its related agencies to discharge their duties impartially.
