The Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has called on voters to resist manipulation by politicians seeking to advance their own agendas.

In an interview with Channel One TV’s Sammi Wiafe and David Kwaku Sakyi, Madam Addy stressed the importance of curbing the spread of misinformation during the electoral process.

She urged voters to verify information and avoid becoming agents of falsehood, particularly before the conclusion of voting, to safeguard the integrity of the elections.

“I will urge all Ghanaians that let us all have it at the back of our minds that, there are people out there trying to use us to execute their own agenda.

“You’re not part of the agenda, so using your data, and resources to promote other people’s agenda by sharing does not inure to your benefits.

“So we should be very careful about the things we share, especially in the next few hours, to ensure that we don’t become participants in spreading fake news.”
