The state has withdrawn treason felony charges against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, bringing an end to over two years of legal proceedings related to his alleged plans to stage a coup d’état.

The charges were initially brought against Barker-Vormawor following comments he made after the passage of the E-levy.

However, the Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has now decided to discontinue the case.

This decision comes as part of a broader move by Dr. Ayine, who has also dropped other high-profile criminal cases.

These include the trial of Dr. Stephen Opuni and businessman Seidu Agongo, as well as charges against the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama.

During a press conference, Dr. Ayine explained the rationale behind these decisions and hinted at a review of the treason felony charges against Barker-Vormawor.

On Monday, he confirmed to Citi News that the charges had been officially dropped.
