SLTF launches portal for first-year students under ‘no-fee-stress’ policy

The Ministry of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has launched an online application portal for first-year students in public tertiary institutions to apply for financial assistance under the government’s flagship No-Fee-Stress policy.

The portal, which went live on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, was launched by the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, as part of efforts to improve access to higher education in Ghana by removing financial barriers faced by students.

According to the Minister, the No-Fee-Stress policy is a “transformative, bold, and visionary initiative” aimed at tackling the financial constraints that prevent many Ghanaian students from pursuing tertiary education.

In a statement released on Tuesday, April 29, the Students Loan Trsut Fund he described the policy as a strategic investment in Ghana’s human capital and a key driver of inclusive and accessible higher learning.

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF), which is mandated to provide financial support to students of accredited tertiary institutions, will spearhead the implementation of the policy.
