We promise equal justice under the law – New Supreme Court Judges

The seven newly appointed Justices of the Supreme Court have pledged their unwavering commitment to uphold justice without bias, promising to serve all Ghanaians with integrity and fairness.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues after their swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House on Thursday, July 3, Justice Senyo Dzamefe assured the public that the court remains steadfast in its constitutional duty.

“To the people of Ghana, we promise to dispense justice to all manner of persons—without fear, favour, ill will, or affection. We also promise equal justice under the law,” he said.

Justice Dzamefe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the families of the newly sworn-in judges for their steadfast support throughout the years.

“For some of us, the road to this moment has been exceptionally long. But our families never gave up on us. They continued to pray, support, and encourage us, believing that this day would come. And finally, it has,” he stated.

In a touching personal reflection, he recalled how his children would question why he had not yet been appointed to the highest court of the land.

“Daddy, how come your name hasn’t been on the list?” he recounted. “Today, that question is over. Our names are there now.”

He concluded with a prayer, asking for divine guidance as the new Justices assume their role as guardians of Ghana’s justice system.

“We pray that the good Lord gives us the strength to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to us,” he prayed.
