Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that Ghana’s programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is fully back on track following the successful completion of the fourth review by the Fund’s Executive Board.
Presenting the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 24, Dr. Forson said the review, which was concluded on July 7, has triggered the immediate release of $367 million to Ghana.
“The IMF programme is back on track with a successful conclusion of the fourth review by the IMF Executive Board on the seventh of July 2025, which immediately triggered the disbursement of 367 million US dollars,” he told the House.
He attributed the development not only to the meeting of macroeconomic targets but also to the government’s commitment to leadership and reform. “Beyond the numbers, this is a story of sound leadership, better economic management, and a restoration of hope to a nation once in despair,” Dr. Forson emphasised.
The Finance Minister used the occasion to express gratitude to Ghanaians for their trust and patience during difficult economic times. “Let me, on behalf of the people of Ghana, thank the people of Ghana for their trust and patience, and continued support. We don’t take it for granted,” he said.
Dr. Forson underscored that the current administration did not assume office merely to manage a deteriorating economy but to engineer a complete recovery. “Mr. Speaker, this government did not just come to manage the decline; we came to reverse it and reset our country,” he asserted.
