Former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, made a rare public appearance on Sunday, July 27, joining Odau Twafohene Baffour Osei Afrifa at the commissioning of a newly constructed bridge in Juaso, Asante Akyem District of the Ashanti Region.
Dr. Dampare, who has remained largely out of the spotlight since leaving office, was warmly received by residents, many of whom rushed to exchange pleasantries and take photos with the former Police Chief, known for his charisma and popularity.
The bridge, donated by Baffour Osei Afrifa, is a vital link for schoolchildren and residents in parts of the Juaso community. Its commissioning drew a large gathering, including members of the Juaso St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, where Dr. Dampare received thunderous applause and a standing ovation when introduced.

HRH Baffour Osei Afrifa publicly acknowledged Dr. Dampare’s role in supporting the project, saying, “I am especially grateful to my older brother and friend, IGP George Akuffo Dampare, for his continuous support and immense encouragement in bringing this project to life,” sparking further applause.
The bridge forms part of the Twafohene’s broader development agenda for Juaso. In 2024, he also donated an eight-unit classroom block, fully air-conditioned and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, to the St. Andrew Roman Primary School to support smart teaching and learning.
