The Government, in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA), has intensified efforts to enforce compliance among broadcasters, ensuring that only authorised and operational stations remain on air.

Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced that recent audits of FM and TV broadcasting authorisations, along with spectrum monitoring exercises, are being conducted to safeguard the integrity of the country’s broadcasting spectrum and strengthen the credibility of the authorisation process.

“The Government, working with the NCA, is taking steps to ensure compliance with the conditions of broadcasting authorisations,” Sam George stated at the “Broadcasting at the Crossroads” forum organised by the Africa Media Bureau in Accra on Friday, September 26.

He urged all broadcasting licence holders to adhere strictly to regulations by renewing their licences on time, paying required fees, and complying with technical standards.

The Minister also reminded broadcasters that, as they hold the Government accountable through their programming, they must maintain their authorisations in good standing with regulators.

These measures aim to create a more disciplined and professional broadcasting environment, preserving the quality of Ghana’s airwaves for all users and protecting the public interest.
