Chief Executive Officer of MOBEX Africa, George Spencer Quaye, has made a passionate call for stronger partnerships and greater collaboration across the continent to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation over the next decade.

He emphasized that African governments must create an enabling environment that fosters innovation rather than stifles it.

He stressed that Africa must take full ownership of its digital destiny, urging governments, innovators, and private sector leaders to become the “architects, builders, and owners” of the continent’s technological future.

Speaking at the MOBEX Africa Innovation Awards 2025 in Accra, held under the theme “Resetting Africa’s Digital Identity and Sovereignty,” he said Africa can no longer afford to be a spectator in the global digital space.

“Africa is not just ready; Africa is rising,” he declared. “The future is not something that happens to Africa. The future is something Africa creates.”

The event also marked the 10th anniversary of MOBEX Africa, celebrating a decade of championing innovation, empowering entrepreneurs, and bridging the gap between policy and practice in the continent’s digital ecosystem.

Reflecting on the organization’s journey since its inception in 2015, Mr. Quaye expressed gratitude to partners, sponsors, and supporters who believed in the MOBEX Africa vision when it was still taking shape.

“Without their courage, vision, and support, the MOBEX Africa dream would have remained just that — a dream,” he said.

Looking ahead, the MOBEX Africa CEO called for even bolder innovation, stronger partnerships, and deeper collaboration to drive the next phase of Africa’s digital transformation.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim outlined key priorities for advancing Africa’s digital agenda, including developing the right infrastructure and strengthening identity systems across the continent.

The MOBEX Africa Innovation Awards 2025 brought together policymakers, investors, innovators, and industry leaders from across the continent to celebrate excellence in technology and innovation.

Honorees included Ghanaian internet pioneer and renowned computer scientist, Prof. Nii Quaynor, Dorothy Gordon, Dr. Ayorkor Korsah, and General Manager of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Bernard Avle, alongside corporate institutions such as MTN Ghana, Huawei, Bank of Ghana, Hubtel, and Margins ID Group — all recognized for their contributions to Africa’s growing digital landscape.
