Five people, including women and children, have been shot dead by unknown gunmen during curfew hours at Tengmasug, a suburb of the Binduri District in the Upper East Region.

The tragic incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2025, when the assailants stormed a household and opened fire on its occupants, who were indoors at the time.

According to police sources, five individuals were killed instantly, while one person sustained gunshot wounds and is currently receiving treatment. The attackers also reportedly shot and killed two bullocks belonging to the household before fleeing the scene.

Police in the region have confirmed the incident to Channel One News and assured that investigations are ongoing.

The Assembly Member for the area, Anaba Joseph, described the attack as devastating and accused security agencies of failing to protect residents despite intelligence pointing to escalating tensions.

“I heard the gunshots around 7, and later, around 9, I called to find out from that community, and they told me that five people had been shot dead and one was wounded. Because of the curfew, I had to wait until daybreak. When I got there, it was not a good scene at all.

“This issue is out of hand. They say they are intelligent, yet they cannot monitor the whole community. They focus on one area, leaving others. As I speak to you, there is a particular house where no one is left—everyone has been shot dead,” he lamented.
