The Bono Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected murder of 27-year-old Haggar Nyorkpatey, who was found dead on her farm in Yaw Wusukrom, a farming community near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District.
According to police, the deceased, who was seven months pregnant, was killed on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Preliminary investigations revealed that her throat had been slit with a sharp object, and blood clots were found in her mouth and ear canal. A foamy substance mixed with blood was also observed around her neck.
The police statement, signed by Regional Public Relations Officer Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, said a 57-year-old man, Charles Asante, reported that the woman, his younger brother’s wife, left for her farm around 8:30 a.m. and did not return. Community members later mounted a search and discovered her body lying on the farm.
The police proceeded to the scene, confirming the woman’s pregnancy and the nature of her injuries. She was reportedly wearing a multi-coloured dress and blue trousers with white stripes.
The body has been deposited at Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
“Efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime,” the police statement added.
