Private firms shine as innovation dominates 2025 Africa Best Business Awards in Accra

The 2025 Africa Best Business Awards (ABBA) has spotlighted the continent’s most innovative and resilient companies, honouring more than 30 top-performing firms and entrepreneurs whose contributions continue to shape Africa’s economic future.

Held in Accra under the theme “Honouring Business Brilliance, Shaping Africa’s Future,” the awards celebrated excellence in innovation, sustainability, and cross-border impact. The event was organised by Delve Afrique Communications and Maven Communications, with support from Zeliatte Media.

According to Maven Communications Director, Seth Jojo Danso Asante, the awards board, made up of experts from business, academia, and government, evaluated nominees on longevity, quality, competitiveness, and innovation.

Industry giants lead the 2025 roll of honour 

Companies across finance, manufacturing, energy, agriculture, media, technology, and aviation were recognized.

Coca-Cola Ghana stood out with three awards:
• Beverage Industry Icon Award (West Africa)
• Visionary Multinational Business Leader Award for Felix Gomis
• Excellence in Brand Loyalty and Consumer Trust

Zoomlion Ghana Limited was named Best in Waste Management Services for its role in sanitation and environmental management, while Enterprise MEP Engineering Limited emerged Best Company of the Year in Integrated Engineering Services.

Softcare FM Manufacturing Limited also swept three honours, including Best FMCG Manufacturing Company (Homecare), Most Innovative Manufacturing Company, and Outstanding Company in National Economic Development.

In financial services, Nzema Manle Rural Bank PLC took home Rural Bank of the Year for advancing financial inclusion. Letshego Ghana Savings and Loans PLC won both Best Savings and Loans Institution and Most Innovative Financial Service Provider of the Year.

Happy Sunshine Company Limited secured awards for Best Product Discovery (Lavonce Pepper Powder) and Manufacturing Company of the Year (Tomato Paste). Genau Ghana Limited won Best Business Support Company for cash-handling equipment supply.

In digital media, AfricaWeb (operators of GhanaWeb) was named Best Media Company of the Year (Digital/Online).

Innovation and Green Impact take centre stage 

Sustainability-focused companies earned significant recognition. Dredge Master Limited won Best Company of the Year (Green Marine Solutions), while Universal Plastic Products and Recycling Limited earned two awards for recycling and green innovation.

Agribusiness also featured prominently:
• Adama West Africa Limited – Agriculture Inputs Company of the Year
• Kuipers Breeders Ghana – Best Agri Company (Poultry Breeding)

Indigenous and emerging enterprises recognised 

McDan Aviation Ghana Limited won Indigenous Company of the Year (Aviation Services), affirming its growing presence in logistics and air operations. Ransboat & Company Limited emerged Indigenous Agri Company of the Year, with CEO Ransford Kwaku Otopa Atiemo named Agribusiness CEO of the Year.

New and fast-growing enterprises were also spotlighted. White Sand Travel Consult was awarded Best Emerging Travel and Tour Company, and its CEO, Mark Hayford, was named Young Business Personality of the Year. Grace Mobility Ghana won Best Company of the Year (Electric Car Dealership).

Top-Up Pharmacy earned Best Pharmacy Brand of the Year, with its CEO, Dr. Richard Odor, receiving Pharmaceutical CEO of the Year.

Other notable winners included:
• Samartex Timber & Plywood – Best Export Company (Timber Products)
• Skones Security Limited – Best in Security Services Innovation
• Polytank Ghana Limited – Best Manufacturing Company (Plastics)
• Weir Minerals West Africa – Company of the Year (Mining Equipment and Solutions)

Driving a stronger private sector ecosystem 

Organisers emphasised that ABBA goes beyond recognition. “This platform is about building a stronger African business community that collaborates to scale innovation,” said Danso.

By spotlighting enterprises that are scaling new ideas, embracing sustainability, and pushing regional growth, the 2025 Africa Best Business Awards reaffirmed the private sector’s defining role in Africa’s next era of economic transformation.
