The Ghana Police Service has rescued a young woman with a visibly injured eye, seen in a viral video, and arrested the man suspected of assaulting her.

According to a police statement shared on Facebook on Friday, 5 December 2025, the operation was carried out by the IGP’s Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team after the video, which showed the distressed victim pleading for help from passersby, circulated widely online.

The team launched an intelligence-led operation that traced the individuals to Okushibri near Apollonia. Officers moved swiftly to secure the victim and apprehend the suspect.

Preliminary investigations identified the suspect as Bright Kpodo, also known as Horror, the victim’s partner, who allegedly subjected her to physical abuse resulting in the injuries seen in the video.

Kpodo is currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while arrangements are being made to provide support services to the victim.

The Police Service has urged the public to promptly report incidents of domestic violence to ensure timely investigation and prosecution.
