President John Dramani Mahama has cut sod for the Oxygen City Housing Project in Ho in the Volta Region, describing it as a major step towards reducing Ghana’s housing deficit.

He said the development reflects commitment by his government to delivering well-planned and affordable housing while ensuring balanced regional growth.

The Oxygen City, according to government is an urban development being undertaken by TDC Ghana Limited on about 1,860 acres of land which will consist of multi-storey apartments, made up of two-bedroom and three-bedroom units, as well as roads, water and electricity services, a hospital, hotel, schools, markets, shopping facilities and recreational areas.

President Mahama indicated that the project will generate employment and attract investment to the Volta Region.

“Projects such as Oxygen City directly respond to this challenge. They represent integrated urban development creating complete ecosystems where people can live, work, assess services and build livelihoods within the same geographical space,” he said.

The Oxygen City project, situated on a 1,860-acre land in the Adaklu Traditional Area marks TDC’s first development outside Tema known as ‘TDC Community 27’.

The President also revealed that land has been secured in the Ashanti Region with the support of the Asantehene for ‘TDC Community 28’.
