The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned and emergency maintenance works across its operational regions, set to take place from Sunday, 1 March, through Thursday, 5 March.

According to a statement issued by ECG’s Communications Department on Friday, 27 February, the exercises are intended to enhance service reliability and strengthen the electricity network. The works will result in temporary power interruptions affecting several communities in the Greater Accra, Tema, Accra East, and Accra West regions.

The first outages will begin on Sunday, 1 March. In the Greater Accra Region, residents of Trassaco Valley Enclave and surrounding areas will experience a scheduled interruption from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Industrial and commercial customers along Western Road in Tema, including Early Power, Apollo Steel, Crown Can, De-Simone, Tropical Cable, Multi Pac, Jon Moore, Cal Bank, and La Bianca, will also be affected during the same hours.

Emergency maintenance has been scheduled in the Accra West Region on Sunday, targeting La Darkuman, Kokompe, and neighbouring communities. ECG said the urgent work is necessary to address critical network faults and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Planned outages continue on Monday, 2 March, in Accra West, affecting Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, Akweteman, and surrounding areas from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Tuesday, 3 March, will see extensive maintenance across multiple regions. In Accra East, areas including Santana Market, Zion Police Station, Teshie Camp 2, ICGC, parts of Labone, Dome Pillar 2, Dome K Boat, No Visa, Auntie Mary, and surrounding communities will experience interruptions from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tema communities affected include Spintex Kotobabi, Inkoom Hospital, Community 11 (Monte Carlo, Shell Filling Station, Gyan Towers), and CAC in Community 5 and 3. Accra West areas including Red Top, Old Barrier, New Aplaku, and Kings University will also be impacted.

On Wednesday, 4 March, Accra West will experience outages from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Tunga, New Century, Dansoman Police Station, Dansoman Market, Weija Junction, Tetegu, and neighbouring areas.

The final day of maintenance, Thursday, 5 March, will involve extensive works across Accra East, Tema, and Accra West. In Accra East, parts of Ashongman Estate, Pure Water, Car Price, Railways, C-Root Company, Asiedu Nketia, Oyarifa, Gravel Pit, Ashiyie, and surrounding areas will be affected from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tema communities experiencing outages from 9:00am to 3:00pm include Jericho, Roman Down, Underbridge Market, State School for the Deaf, Safisana, BBF, Adjei Kodjo, Kanawu, Tsopoli, Dawa, Sege, Korluedor, Adokope, Kasseh, Inglisi, Ada Foah, Big Ada, Totope, Azizanya, Treasure Island, and Aqua Safari. In Accra West, power will be interrupted from 9:00am to 5:00pm in Doblo, Hebron, Medie, Sarpeiman, Satellite, Tabora No.2–6, Bankyease, Racecourse, Alhaji, and Rockstar Area at Tantra Hills.

ECG advised residents and businesses to plan accordingly and thanked the public for their understanding as essential upgrades are carried out.
