Karpowership Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to building engineering capacity and advancing inclusion within Ghana’s energy sector as the global community marks World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026.

Observed worldwide under the theme “Shaping Our Sustainable Future Through Engineering,” the day underscores the critical role engineering plays in accelerating sustainable development, driving innovation, and supporting industrial growth.

In Ghana, engineering expertise remains fundamental to ensuring reliable electricity supply and sustaining national progress.

Karpowership Ghana noted that engineering excellence is central to its operations and long-term strategy. Beyond delivering dependable power, the company continues to invest in developing the next generation of Ghanaian engineers.

As part of this commitment, the company sponsors academically outstanding but financially challenged engineering students at Takoradi Technical University (TTU), covering their tuition to remove financial barriers to higher education and strengthen the country’s technical talent pipeline.

The organisation also implements STEM mentorship programmes that connect students with experienced industry professionals who provide career guidance, technical insights, and leadership support. Through structured educational tours aboard its Powership, students gain first-hand exposure to power generation systems, operational safety protocols, and real-world engineering environments.

In line with its broader inclusion agenda, Karpowership Ghana has introduced an all-female internship programme designed to increase women’s participation in engineering. The initiative offers hands-on industry experience and professional development opportunities aimed at addressing gender disparities within the energy sector.

Communications Manager of Karpowership Ghana, Sandra Amarquaye, emphasised that investing in people is integral to sustainable power delivery.

“This year’s World Engineering Day theme reminds us that engineering is central to building a sustainable future. At Karpowership Ghana, we believe powering a nation goes beyond generating electricity — it requires intentional investment in people. Through our sponsorships, mentorship initiatives, educational tours, and our all-female internship programme, we are creating clear pathways for young engineers, particularly women, to actively shape Ghana’s energy future,” she said.

Karpowership Ghana reiterated that as global attention turns to the vital contributions of engineers, it remains steadfast in advancing engineering excellence, strengthening local capacity, and supporting sustainable development in Ghana.
