The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed allegations that it procured fifteen laptops at an inflated cost of GHS322,500.
In a statement issued and signed by Prince Kwame Minka, Media Relations Officer, GoldBod explained that the purchase, which supplied newly-appointed Directors and Deputy Directors with Lenovo ThinkPad T14S laptops, was conducted through a single-source procurement method. Approval was granted by the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), taking into account the urgency of the purchase and the supplier’s capacity to meet the required quantity and delivery timelines.
“The fifteen laptops were purchased at a total price of GHS322,500, translating into a unit price of GHS21,500 inclusive of taxes. This price aligns perfectly with the specifications of the Lenovo ThinkPad T14S laptops procured,” the Board stated.
It added: “A simple check from the website of the supplier (screenshot attached) shows that the open market price of the said laptop is GHS21,505. Furthermore, checks with other suppliers will show that the purchased price of the laptops is very competitive.”
GoldBod also confirmed that the Ministry of Finance authorised the expenditure, and the contract was published online on 10 March 2026, in line with Section 42(1)(c) of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
The Board urged the public to remain vigilant and dismiss misleading claims by individuals attempting to fabricate wrongdoing.
“The Ghana Gold Board holds dear the principles of transparency and accountability and will continue to uphold these tenets by publishing all contracts it enters into,” the statement noted.
