The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has appealed to party executives in the Eastern Region to unite and work towards recapturing political power.
Speaking during a meeting with party executives in the Kwahu enclave on Friday, March 27, 2026, as part of his regional tour, Chairman Wontumi noted that although the party has made efforts to unify its supporters after the presidential election, more needs to be done to fully bring everyone on board.
He argued that the current handling of the country’s economy presents an opportunity for the NPP to reposition itself, stressing that with hard work, commitment, and determination, the party stands a strong chance of reclaiming power.
He added that leadership and sacrifice would be key in restoring calm and cohesion within the party.
“This is where I present myself as the servant that you can trust to unite everyone to ensure that we work for the victory of the NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in 2028,” he emphasised.
Responding to claims that he lacks the academic credentials to lead the party, Chairman Wontumi questioned the basis of such concerns, pointing to his track record in delivering votes for the party in the Ashanti Region.
“Why didn’t they ask for my certificate when I was massively churning out the numbers in Ashanti Region for the party? Every high-ranking member of this party was waiting for Wontumi’s Ashanti votes. Why didn’t they ask me about my academic credentials then? And why the sudden craving for my certificate?” he queried.
Chairman Wontumi is expected to spend three days in the Eastern Region as part of his nationwide campaign tour to seek support for his bid for the position of National Chairman of the NPP.
