Minister for the Interior and Member of Parliament (MP) for Asawase, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, has joined football enthusiasts at the 29th Ashanti Regional Inter-Zongo Community Tournament (Sallah Match) held at the Akurem Highlanders AstroTurf Park.
The event brought together residents and stakeholders from various Zongo communities and showcased football talent while promoting unity among the youth.
Alhaji Mubarak attended the tournament alongside the Municipal Chief Executive for Old Tafo Municipality and other dignitaries, where they witnessed what he described as an impressive display of football talent and community spirit.
The Interior Minister commended the organisers for their efforts in promoting Zongo football, noting that such initiatives play a key role in nurturing young talents and strengthening social cohesion.
He also called on residents and stakeholders to take collective responsibility in maintaining sports facilities within the municipality, particularly the Akurem Highlanders AstroTurf Park and the Aboabo Middle B Park.
Alhaji Mubarak further disclosed that a third AstroTurf facility for the constituency, located at Dogo Moro Park, is about 80 percent complete and will soon be commissioned for use.
As part of his support for the tournament, the Interior Minister made a cash donation and presented two sets of jerseys and footballs to the organisers.
