Residents of Broadekwano and Asisiriwa in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region are living in fear and panic, calling for intensified police patrols after a violent clash between the two communities left two young men dead and three others in critical condition.
The violence, which erupted on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, spilled into the following day, heightening tensions in the area.
According to the Assembly Member for the Asisiriwa Electoral Area, Prince Boateng, the clashes were triggered by an alleged relationship dispute involving a young woman from Broadekwano and a young man from Asisiriwa, which escalated into a full-scale confrontation.
He confirmed that two people were killed, while three others sustained critical injuries. Several properties were also destroyed, including a commercial sprinter bus belonging to an Asisiriwa resident, which was set ablaze after the driver transported passengers to Broadekwano.

The incident has heightened tensions in the area. Although police personnel were deployed in their numbers to both communities on Wednesday afternoon for engagement, they reportedly left afterwards.
Mr. Boateng indicated that residents remain in fear, uncertain about their safety following the withdrawal of the police. He is therefore calling for intensified police surveillance and regular patrols to prevent any possible reprisal attacks.
“I am pleading with the Interior Minister and the DCE to deplore men to come and protect us,” he appealed.
