Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang engaged members of Ghana’s diaspora community in Vic, Spain, as part of efforts to deepen the government’s relationship with Ghanaians living abroad and update them on key national developments.

The meeting, held on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, followed her participation in the 4th High-Level Meeting of the Initiative in Defence of Democracy.

The meeting brought together a cross-section of the Ghanaian community in Spain, including traditional leaders, representatives of the Ghana Union, and various associations from across different provinces.

The Vice President was accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang conveyed warm greetings from President Mahama and commended the Ghanaian community in Spain for their positive contributions and for projecting a good image of Ghana abroad.

She noted that the conduct and achievements of Ghanaians in the diaspora continue to enhance the country’s reputation on the global stage.

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering closer ties with the diaspora, recognising their vital role in national development through remittances, investments, and knowledge transfer
