Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has held discussions with a delegation from York University at her office, focusing on expanding academic collaboration and strengthening institutional ties between Ghanaian tertiary institutions and international universities.

The meeting explored opportunities for enhanced cooperation in areas such as academic exchange, research partnerships, and student engagement, with both sides expressing interest in deepening knowledge-sharing frameworks between Ghana and the Canadian institution.

The York University delegation noted its growing focus on Africa, describing the continent as a key partner in advancing global education objectives.

They highlighted Africa’s youthful population and the increasing potential for collaboration in innovation, research, and academic mobility.

As part of the discussions, the delegation and the Vice President examined avenues for fostering shared learning experiences that would benefit students and faculty through exchange programmes and collaborative research initiatives.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang, an alumna of York University, described the engagement as personally significant, stressing the value of international exposure and experiential learning beyond traditional classroom environments.

She reaffirmed government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that broaden opportunities for young people, strengthen educational cooperation, and promote meaningful cross-border academic connections.

The Vice President further emphasised that strategic partnerships in higher education are essential for building global networks and equipping the next generation with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
