Bright Philip Donkor, a communications professional, sustainable development advocate, and DemEd Global alumnus, has been invited to attend a series of Cambridge online and hybrid academic events, following his completion of Cambridge-affiliated short courses under the DemEd Global programme.

This programme, co-hosted by Lucy Cavendish College and Hughes Hall at the University of Cambridge, in partnership with leading Cambridge and international expert institutions, engages current and future law and policy leaders especially from highly climate vulnerable countries, in implementing sustainable development commitments.

The invitation from the DemEd Global Team forms part of an alumni engagement initiative designed to maintain professional and academic links with graduates while providing continued access to leading global conversations on sustainable development law and environmental governance.

In a communication signed by Kwan Yuen Serena Chan on behalf of the DemEd Global Team, alumni were congratulated for successfully completing the programme and thanked for their continued engagement in the field of sustainable development law.

“As a special benefit of having completed our online courses, you are warmly invited to attend sessions of interest at the University of Cambridge, online, at no charge,” the message stated.

Among the featured events is the Global Food Security Lunchtime Seminar, scheduled for Thursday, June 11, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the David Attenborough Building and online (hybrid). The seminar will feature Dr. Danilo Rosin of the Bennett School for Public Policy and Dr. Tejas Rao of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (CEENRG), Department of Land Economy.

The seminar will explore global food security challenges, policy responses, and sustainability concerns in the context of climate change and resource pressures.

Alumni have also been invited to a second event titled “Governance Beyond 30×30: Area-Based Protection and Biodiversity Leakage Through Food Systems,” scheduled for 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the same venue and online. The session will be delivered by Dr. Aiora Zabala, Assistant Professor in Climate, Environmental and Urban Policy at the University of Cambridge.

Discussions will focus on biodiversity conservation under the Global Biodiversity Framework and the impact of food systems on environmental protection strategies.

In a follow-up message, organisers provided Microsoft Teams access details for online participation in the Global Food Security Seminar, enabling global alumni engagement.

It would be recalled that Donkor completed three short courses delivered through the DemEd Global initiative in collaboration with Lucy Cavendish College and Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge last year.

The courses covered the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Law, the Paris Agreement on climate change, and the Global Biodiversity Framework, equipping participants with interdisciplinary knowledge in global environmental governance and sustainability policy.
