President John Dramani Mahama has finalised a major procurement arrangement with Belarus for the supply of 1,840 pieces of agricultural equipment as part of efforts to modernise Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The agreement forms part of a broader push to deepen cooperation between Ghana and Belarus, particularly in agriculture, through technology transfer, skills development and increased investment.
Speaking at the first-ever Belarus–Ghana Business Forum held in Minsk, President Mahama described the arrangement as a practical step toward strengthening economic relations between the two countries, urging the private sectors of Ghana and Belarus to move beyond diplomatic engagement and focus on building sustainable commercial partnerships that can drive long-term economic growth.
The President further reiterated Ghana’s commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation with Belarus in key sectors, including trade and industry, during his state visit to the Belarusian capital.
His remarks came after the signing of three memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing collaboration between the two countries.
The agreements cover the establishment of a joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, collaboration between the chambers of commerce of Ghana and Belarus, and structured cooperation within the agricultural sector.
President Mahama explained that the MOUs are expected to provide a clear institutional framework for governments, agencies and private sector actors to work more closely together.
