Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has commended branch executives across the region for their role in the party’s performance in the 2024 general elections, while wishing them success in the ongoing branch elections.

In a statement, Ashie Moore expressed appreciation to grassroots leaders, describing their dedication and commitment as key factors behind the NDC’s electoral success in the region.

According to him, the tireless efforts of branch executives helped the party secure 29 parliamentary seats in Greater Accra, surpassing expectations and strengthening the party’s presence in the region.

He noted that the executives played a critical role in mobilising supporters, building strong party structures and ensuring that the party’s message reached voters across the 34 constituencies in the region.

Ashie Moore said he had the opportunity to interact closely with branch executives during the 2024 campaign, recalling the sacrifices made by party members, including working late into the night and spending long hours campaigning alongside parliamentary candidates and the party’s flagbearer.

“We have not forgotten your efforts, dedication and support. We know the sacrifices you made, and we will reward you at the right time,” he stated.

He also highlighted the NDC’s performance in the presidential election in Greater Accra, where President John Dramani Mahama secured 1,120,719 votes, representing 66.48 per cent of valid votes cast, while the New Patriotic Party’s candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, obtained 562,135 votes, representing 33.35 per cent.

Ashie Moore described the outcome as unprecedented in the history of the party in the region and attributed the achievement to the commitment of branch executives and supporters.

As the party prepares for branch elections, he urged contestants to put the interests of the NDC first and maintain the momentum that contributed to the party’s recent successes.

“I wish each and every one of you the best of luck in the upcoming elections. May the party’s interests be your guiding principle, and may you emerge victorious,” he said.

The branch executive elections, which began on Saturday, 20 June 2026, are expected to be held across various branches over the next month. The exercise is expected to test the organisational strength of the NDC and shape the party’s grassroots leadership ahead of future political contests.
