The family of former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Adwoa Safo, has expressed grave concern about her condition following an alleged shooting incident, saying she could succumb to injuries sustained in the attack.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra, spokesperson for the Safo Kantanka family, Dr. Emmanuel Boakye, said the former lawmaker remains in critical condition and continues to undergo intensive medical treatment due to the severity of her injuries.

According to Dr. Boakye, Adwoa Safo sustained multiple gunshot wounds while seated in her vehicle as she attempted to serve her younger brother, Kwadwo Safo Akofena, with a court notice seeking to halt his installation as successor to the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission.

He disclosed that doctors have advised the family to consider seeking specialised treatment abroad, prompting arrangements to be made for her transfer outside the country for further medical care.

“The survival of Adwoa Safo, in percentage terms, I will say is 50-50. The situation is very bad. She has undergone surgical operations, check-ups and other medical procedures almost every day. The latest was around 8 p.m. yesterday,” he said.

He further claimed that the former MP is currently experiencing hearing difficulties and remains under close medical observation.

“The doctors are advising that, considering her condition, we do everything possible to take her abroad for further treatment. The situation is very serious. If I am told today that Adwoa is dead, I will not be surprised. Her body and head are swollen,” Dr. Boakye stated.

Meanwhile, the nine individuals accused in connection with the shooting incident involving former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo have been granted bail by the court.

They were admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢500,000 with two sureties. The sureties are not required to be justified, but must sign a bail justification form as part of the court’s conditions.
