Police in the Mankranso District have arrested four suspected drug peddlers during an intelligence-led operation at identified locations within the Kunsu Township in the Ashanti Region.

The operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026, forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to clamp down on the trafficking and peddling of illicit drugs and other related criminal activities in the area.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 29, the police said, “The Mankranso District Police Command has arrested four (4) suspected drug peddlers during an intelligence-led operation conducted at identified locations within Kunsu Township.”

The suspects have been identified as Issaka Musah, 22, Amankwah Emmanuel, 25, Kwame Boateng, 32, and Appiah Prince, 23.

According to the Police, items retrieved during the operation include one locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected Tramadol, red capsules, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, and a whitish powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

An amount of GH¢5,647.40, suspected to be proceeds from the illegal trade, was also seized.

“The operation, which took place in the early hours of Friday, 26th June 2026, forms part of the Police Service’s sustained efforts to clamp down on the trafficking and peddling of illicit drugs and other related criminal activities within the district,” the statement added.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects allegedly admitted ownership of the seized exhibits. They are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be put before court upon completion of investigative processes.

“The suspects are currently in Police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before the court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the Police noted.

The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to fighting drug-related offences and organised crime, urging the public to continue supporting law enforcement by providing timely and credible information.

“The Ghana Police Service remains resolute in its fight against drug-related offences and organised crime,” it said.
