The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the assault, robbery and rape of a woman at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua.
According to a police statement issued on Tuesday, June 30, suspect Isaac Anim was arrested following intelligence-led investigations into the incident, which was reported on June 15, 2026.
“The suspect is reported to have robbed the victim of an iPhone 11, the sum of Two Hundred United States Dollars ($200.00), and a pack of food. The suspect subsequently sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene,” the statement said.
Police said officers from the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID) tracked the suspect to his hideout at Awukugwa near Adukrom, where he was arrested on Friday, June 26.
A search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of the victim’s mobile phone, which police said the suspect had used together with the victim’s SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor.
The police further disclosed that the suspect has been handed over to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to the statement, Isaac Anim has also been linked to six other cases involving robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Okorase.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens,” the statement added.
