Flood victims to receive replacement passports within a week — Foreign Affairs Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a fast-track process to replace passports lost or damaged during this week’s devastating floods in parts of the country.

In a public notice issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ministry said the initiative is intended to support flood victims by ensuring they receive replacement passports within one week of completing the required application process.

The Ministry expressed its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the floods, acknowledging the loss of lives and destruction of property caused by the disaster.

“The Ministry is aware of the catastrophic consequences including loss of lives and destruction of properties. We extend our sincere and deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” the statement said.

It added that the Ministry stood “in strong solidarity with all our affected compatriots” during this difficult period.

The Ministry said it recognised that many affected Ghanaians had either lost their passports or had them damaged by floodwaters, prompting the introduction of the expedited replacement process.

Affected persons have been directed to contact the Ministry between Friday, July 3 and Friday, July 17, 2026, through the dedicated telephone line 055 936 8563.

According to the Ministry, applicants will be required to provide their name, date of birth and gender exactly as they appear in the lost or damaged passport, as well as a contact telephone number to facilitate processing.

“We intend to replace all lost and damaged passports within a week,” the Ministry said.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s recovery efforts and assisting citizens affected by the floods.
