The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will commence the selection of their preferred senior high schools from Monday, July 20 to Friday, August 7, 2026.
The exercise will pave the way for the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), through which qualified candidates will be placed into senior high schools and technical institutions across the country.
Ahead of the selection process, the GES has begun a nationwide training and sensitisation programme for Regional and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Directors of Education to equip them with the necessary knowledge to guide and supervise the exercise.
According to the Service, the training, which runs from Wednesday, July 15 to Tuesday, July 28, 2026, is designed to provide education directors with a deeper understanding of the 2026 school selection guidelines and placement procedures.
The GES in a statement pledged to ensure that education authorities are better prepared to offer effective oversight and provide accurate guidance to candidates, parents and other stakeholders throughout the selection period.
As part of measures to ensure a smooth process, the Service has directed all Regional and Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education to participate fully in the training and communicate the relevant information to schools and stakeholders within their respective areas.
The GES said the preparations are aimed at promoting a transparent, efficient and orderly school selection and placement process for BECE candidates ahead of the 2026 academic year.
