The Attorney General has withdrawn an application seeking to revoke a court order that allowed former National Food Buffer Stock Company Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab to travel abroad.

The application followed Hanan Abdul-Wahab’s arrest while travelling for medical treatment, despite having obtained the court’s permission to leave the country.

The prosecution alleged that he had attempted to withdraw money from a frozen bank account and intended to abscond.

His lawyers, led by Godfred Yeboah Dame, denied the allegations, describing the state’s actions as an abuse of their client’s rights. They also challenged the prosecution to provide evidence of the alleged attempt to withdraw funds from the frozen account.

When the application came before the court, the presiding judge, Justice Francis Apanga Achibonga, observed that the travel order required Hanan Abdul-Wahab to return by 12 July 2026. He ruled that there was no subsisting order before the court to revoke.

The prosecution subsequently withdrew the application.

Dame however criticised the state’s actions, arguing that they were in defiance of the court’s earlier order.

Justice Achibonga then struck out the application as withdrawn.
