The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, says he would like the party’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, to remain in office for as long as possible, citing his vast experience and immense contribution to the party.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, Gbande described Asiedu Nketiah, popularly known as “General Mosquito,” as the “spirit” of the NDC, arguing that his decades of service have made him one of the party’s most experienced and influential figures.

According to Gbande, the National Chairman’s leadership and deep understanding of the party’s structures continue to be invaluable to the NDC.

He added that Asiedu Nketiah’s contributions to the party cannot be overlooked, noting that many current members have benefited from his guidance and mentorship over the years.

“General Mosquito is the spirit of our party today. You like him or not, I would have loved to have the experience of him managing the party for a little bit longer. He’s currently the National Chairman of the party.

“You have no reason to question his leadership. He is probably the most experienced individual in the party today. He’s been there for a long time. All of us who are walking around, we’ve walked through his hands.”

He cautioned party members against attacking the National Chairman simply because they disagree with some of his decisions, arguing that disagreements should be handled within the party’s structures.
