Stop taking credit for NDC’s projects – Former DCE to NPP

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bimbila constituency of the Northern Region is urging the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to be fair to Ghanaians and give credit to the NDC for the numerous development projects in the constituency.

The party cautioned the government from claiming credit for such projects when they were rather carried out by the NDC.

[contextly_sidebar id=”CcxDataO50MYjzwOAGRR5z4RRrAmIxtH”]The immediate past District Chief Executive under the NDC, Mohammed Ibn Abass, said a supposed list of projects the NPP claims to have undertaken in the area was false.

He told Citi News that a number of the feeder roads were awarded under the NDC administration and it was “unfortunate” that the NPP was claiming such projects to be its idea.

“Looking at the feeder roads, Sogon-Kpemkura road was awarded to Messrs Beads&Sons on 24th December 2015 at a cost of GHc 1.73 million,  Bincheretanga -Gambuga road awarded to Messrs Halid Const. Works on the 24th December 2015 at a cost of GHc 3.10 million. Pusuga -Kalegu Sansamangu road Phase 1 (13km) awarded to Messrs Labando Ent. on the 15th of March 2016 at a cost of GHc 2.72 million.  Pusuga -Kalegu Sansamangu road Phase 3 (12km) awarded to Messrs Animble Kayi Ent. on the 15th of March 2016 at a cost of GHc 2.73 million. These contractors were at site working before NPP came to power in January 2017. Credibility in politics is very important,” he stressed.

Ibn Abass said for government communicators are trying desperately to create the impression that it had executed many projects in the area hence their attempt to include projects started and completed by the NDC.

He therefore advised the party’s communicators to be factual in their commentaries before giving credit to the government.

“Some of these government communicators should not put the government in this type of awkward situations. They should crosscheck their facts before they put anything out there as facts,” he said.

He thus called on politicians to be fair in giving credits to each other.

“For government communicators to claim projects that were awarded by the previous government it’s not fair. We should be fair to ourselves, the current government and also be fair to the good people of Ghana,” he noted.
