Former Transport Minister and aspiring Chairman of the National Democratic Congress in the Volta Region, Dzifa Attivor, failed to get the maximum number of votes from the party’s “world bank” to defeat incumbent Chairman in the region, Gyapong Kudjo.

She was able to garner 371 votes while Gyapong Kudjo won with 491 votes at the NDC’s just ended Regional elections held nationwide on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

In the Ashanti Region, former Ashanti Regional Minister Joseph Yamin, who also attempted the chairmanship for the party in the region lost by 88 votes to his closest contender Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi.

The race, which was fierce between the two saw Nana Kwasi win the seat with 699 votes while Joseph Yamin garnered 611 votes.

The newly elected regional chairman, Augustus Andrew Nana Kwasi thanking delegates for their nod, called for a collaboration between all factions of the party.

“We should have a united front to fight for power in 2020. It is the party that has won and not an individual and so to all my contenders, the factions have all been dissolved today, now we know everyone is capable and so we are calling everyone on board to work immediately. We will not wait any longer, since we have been given the go ahead, we must start working so we can produce good accountability of our works at the end of our 4year tenure.”

Ade Coker retained

In the Greater Accra Region however, Ade Coker was given the nod by the delegates to continue his chairmanship of the NDC in the region.

He won with 319 votes while his closest contenders Daniel Amartey Mensah, former MCE for LEKMA and Emmanuel Ashie Moore, former Adentan MP, had 293 and 283 votes respectively.

Yahya Kundow, who was also in the race polled 107 votes.

Still in the region, former MP for Ablekuma Central, Theophilus Tetteh was voted as the Greater Accra Regional Secretary, while Anthony Nukpenu had 390 votes to be retained as the party’s Greater Accra Regional Organizer.

Dzifa Attivor ‘boy’ Egypt Kudoto loses Volta NDC Youth Organizer position

Egypt Kudoto, an aide to former Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor, was defeated in the NDC regional executives’ election in the Volta Region last Friday.

The incumbent Volta Regional Youth Organizer lost his reelection bid to his deputy, Mathias Alagbo.

Mathias Alagbo polled 51 votes against Egypt Kudoto’s 47 votes.

There were suggestions that Kudoto’s defeat had some impact on Attivor’s chairmanship loss.

Egypt Kudoto, a former reporter for the Enquirer newspaper, was noted as also being a key member in the campaign team of  Dzifa Attivor.
