The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has set up a three-member committee to investigate circumstances that led to the supply of some expired food items donated by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to flood victims in the Upper West Region.

The Committee, which is led by Seji Saji, with Maj.(rtd) Michael Amaning and Andrew Heyford as members, has 14-days to present their report to the organization.

Director General of the National Disaster management organization, Eric Nana Agyemang-Perempeh, made this known at a press briefing in Wa during an emergency visit to ascertain extent of damage caused to some of the flood victims who consumed the expired products.

He further disclosed that the Upper West Regional Director of NADMO, Issac Seidu, has been queried, while the Regional Storekeeper, , Amin Sulemana, has been suspended indefinitely.

Mr. Agemang-Prempeh indicated that his outfit will take the necessary action after the committee presents its final report.

“Let me assure you that we are not just going to end at the fact finding level, we ill take steps to ensure that those found culpable will be severely punished,” he added.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), first brought the issue to the public’s attention at a press conference in Wa on Tuesday alleging that some of the items donated by Dr. Bawumia had expired.

The Upper West Regional branch of NADMO has since confirmed to Citi News that it received complaints from some recipients who said they had fallen sick after consuming some of the food items.
