CEO of Karela FC, David Brigidi, passes on

CEO of Zylofon Cash Premier League side, Karela FC, David Brigidi, has passed on aged 56. The death was confirmed on Sunday after a short illness.

He passed on at a London Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

According to football portal Kickgh.com, a player of the club said the news filtered through a club chat group.

“President [David Brigidi] is gone…Yes the news was broken to us on our WhatsApp platform few minutes ago.”

Brigidi was from Nigeria and he was was a senator for Bayelsa Central Constituency of Bayelsa State between 1997 to 2007.

In October 2013, he bought Metro FC and renamed it Karela FC, and five years later, they made it to the elite division of the local league.

Aside from the club, Mr. Brigidi was the owner of Karela Oil & Gas Nigeria, Karela Hotels & Resort Ghana, Kareela Oil & Gas Ghana, Re-Routine Air Limited, Adef Energy Services, Shores & Savannah (Law Partners) and South Field Petroleum.

Fellow Premier League club, Inter Allies, shared their sympathies with Karela on the passing of Brigidi via its Twitter handle.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Senator David Cobbina Siagha Brigidi, President of @KarelaUtd_FC.

Our deepest heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Karela FC and the Football fraternity, His Soul Rest In Peace. #RIP 😭😭
