Ghana’s Abeiku Jackson qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 100m butterfly event in the ongoing 2018 Youth Olympics in Argentina as a reserve.

Jackson finished 2nd in Heat 3 in a time of 54.52 seconds but at the end of the heats, his time placed him outside the 16 automatic qualifying places for the semi-finals of the event.

He placed 18th on the log  and will be be one of the two reserves for the semi-finals slated for Tuesday evening. This means that he will get a chance to compete when a swimmer who has made it cannot take part for one reason or the other.

Jackson and Germany’s Nik Luca Armbruster are the two reserves for the semis.

The Ghanaian swimmer will also take part in the men’s 50m butterfly heats on Wednesday.
