The National Democratic Congress [NDC], has closed nominations for the upcoming parliamentary primaries towards the by-election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

At the close of nomination on Thursday, December 20, 2019, 8 people had picked forms to contest in the elections.

The 8 are actor John Dumelo; 2016 parliamentary candidate, Delali Kwasi Brempong; Mr. Ekow Acquah; Mr. Ewoenam Y.A. Attiolokpo and Madam Catherine Abrokwa Mante.

The others are Alhaji Isaah Kamara and Kojo Twum Boafo and Madam Dela Salassie.

The cost of nomination forms and filing fees was GH¢1,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively, with a 50 per cent discount on the filing fees for women and persons with disability.

The party has set 28th of December for the primaries ahead of the by-election which will be held in January 2019.

The by-election has been necessitated by the death of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, Emmanuel Agyarko.

Bismarck Aborbi Aryeetey, the Chairman of the NDC in the Ayawaso Constituency, in an earlier interview with Citi News said they will do everything possible to capture the seat.

On Sunday, we will have the vetting and prepare for the primaries on the 28th of December for us to have a candidate who will lead the party in the by-election, he said.
