Ghana’s Asante Kotoko will take on Cotonsport of Cameroon in the playoff round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The fixture was one of 15 drawn today in Cairo, Egypt for the continent’s club competitions.

Kotoko made the draw after beating Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 over two legs from the previous round.

Cotonsport was one of the seeded teams that fell out of the first round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers.

Per the rules of the draw, the teams which fell out of the Champions League will play at home first in the Confederation Cup playoff and travel to play the away leg.

That means, Asante Kotoko will head to Garoua in Cameroon on the weekend of 11-13 January, 2019 for the first leg before hosting the Cameroonians on the weekend of the January 18-20.

Success for Kotoko will send them into the group stage of the Confederation Cup for the third time in their history.

They made the first-ever final of the Confederation Cup in 2005 where they lost to Hearts of Oak 6-5 on penalties and they got back to the group stage in 2008 but they finished bottom of their group that had Etoile du Sahel, JS Kabylie and Al Merrikh.
