A Deputy Attorney General, Joseph Kpemka, has hinted that more former state officials, among others, will soon be put before court for alleged acts of corruption.

“Of course” other cases are coming up, he said to the press when questioned on the matter.

There are other cases that are coming up and as and when they are ready, you will know,” Mr. Kpemka said.

Currently, there are five cases of corruption before the courts and involving 21 different persons.

The cases have to do with alleged corruption at COCOBOD fertilizer trial, Micro Finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Venture Capital, Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the National Communications Authority (NCA) cases currently before the courts.

The persons facing charges were all employed under the John Mahama administration.

President Nana Akufo-Addo had also made reference to these cases when he assured that he would not abuse his powers to prosecute corrupt persons.

He said he remained committed to due process as his administrations look to live up to expectations in the corruption fight.

“One of the things I am not prepared to do under any conditions is to do away with due process,” President Akufo-Addo declared in his meeting with Ghanaians in Canada.

“Let us accept the judicial process as it is, work with it knowing fully well that if tomorrow you are in trouble, you would also like to have due process applied to you.”
