A District Court in Tamale presided over by his worship Amadu Issifu has remanded a 29-year-old man, who was among two others, allegedly accused of assaulting some officials of the National Identification Authority.

The suspects are also accused of causing unlawful damage to equipment in the ongoing Ghana Card registration exercise in Tamale.

The accused had been charged for assault and causing unlawful damage to property.

According to the Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Otua Acheampong, three persons claiming to be unit committee members went to the Kharryya D A primary school in Sabongida a suburb in Tamale to direct the officials on how they should conduct the exercise.

However, the NIA officials ignored them.

This infuriated the accused persons leading to the assault of some NIA officials as well as damaging some registration equipment.

Superintendent Acheampong explained that the case was reported to the police which led to the arrest of one Ali Moro, 29 years, with his accomplices yet to be identified

The accused is to reappear in court on Thursday, October 24, 2019.
