The story of the Asante people was told to patrons of the 2020 Heritage Caravan at the Manhyia Palace Museum on day two of the exciting road trip.

The patrons touched base in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital and toured the Manhyia Palace Museum and the Okomfo Anokye Sword site.

On the way to Kumasi, the caravan passed through notable towns like Nkawkaw, Konogo and Ejisu from its stopover at the Rock City Hotel.

The tour of the Manhyia Palace Museum, according to patrons was very educational, which started out with screening on the history of the Ashanti.

Patrons were then taken on a tour of several rooms in the Palace and their magnificent artefacts.

The new palace of the current Asante King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is right next door of the museum.

The second visit was to the Okomfo Anokye sword site which is situated on the grounds of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The Komfo Anokye Sword is seminal in Asante history and is a 333-year-old sword wedged in the rockface.

It is known as one of the central artefacts and legends of the rich history of the Asante nation.

Activities of the day wouldn’t have been complete without the climax; a dinner dance with good music by the Nkyimnkyim Band at the plush Golden Bean hotel.

The 2020 edition of the Heritage Caravan is being powered by Citi 97.3 FM and Citi TV.

It is supported by Rigworld Petroleum, Voltic, GCB, Japan Motors, Hollard Insurance, Ghana Tourism Authority and Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited.
