The Church of Pentecost, James McKeown Worship Centre (JMWC), Korle Gonno in the Dansoman Area on Sunday, April 25,  2021, inaugurated a new Ga Assembly and ordained new officers at the Church Auditorium.

The inauguration ceremony was undertaken by the Area Head of Dansoman, Prophet Ebenezer Kofi Appiah during the Climax of the church’s week-long revival with the Area Head dubbed “Prophetic encounter with the Area Head”.

Opening the ceremony, the Resident Minister of the Church, Rev. (Dr.) Perez Sepenu informed members that the vision for opening the dedicated Ga Assembly is to build an Assembly that is culturally relevant and to meet the spiritual, physical, social, and psychological needs of the indigenous Ga population within the catchment area of the Church.

This he said is in line with the overarching vision of the Church of Pentecost which is to become a global Pentecostal Church that is culturally relevant through vibrant evangelism, strategic church planting, discipleship, and holistic ministry.

This, Rev (Dr) Sepenu said is captured in the Vision 2023 Document of “Possessing the nations” as shared by the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and his executive committee.

Speaking at the service on the topic, “Getting Connected to a Glorious Church” based on Acts 2: 41 – 47, Prophet Ebenezer Kofi Appiah encouraged members to always stay connected to Christ and the Church.

According to him, to be connected to a Glorious Church, the individual must strive to at all times stay connected to the Holy Spirit.

Additionally, the individual must always come to the House of God with joy and come expecting a fellowship with others.

Unveiling the new name for the Ga Assembly, the Chief of Korle Gonno, Nii Tackie Owuowu IV assisted by the Resident Minister’s wife Dr (Mrs) Naa Akushia Sepenu and the Area Head, was full of joy and praise to the leadership of the Church in establishing a new assembly dedicated to the Ga community. He promised to henceforth join the new Ga Assembly.

The Area Head informed the Church that the newly inaugurated Assembly will be known as “Anunyam Ga Asafo”, to wit “The Glorious Ga Assembly”. The Area Head prayed for the Chiefs and people of Korle Gonno. Additionally, the pioneer Presiding Elder of the Assembly, Elder Isaac Quaye, and his presbytery were prayed for by the Area Head.

The occasion was also used to ordain 27 Officers of the Church comprising 7 Elders, 10 Deacons, and 10 Deaconesses.

In attendance were Dr. (Mrs.) Naa Akushia Sepenu, wife of the Resident Minister, Honourable Ivan Esinam Tekpli, Assemblyman for the Korle Gonno Electoral Area who made cash and PPE donation to the Church, Representative of the 2020 NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma South Constituency, Mr. Bernard  Brown who made a cash donation to the Church and promised to henceforth also fellowship with the Ga Assembly, the Development Chief of Korle Gonno as well as the District Executives of JMWC.
