Ghana’s educational sector faced many challenges in 2022 as various labour unions showed their displeasure by embarking on industrial actions.

Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum is however hopeful that 2023 would be an exciting year for the education sector as many initiatives are being introduced.

Citing some of the initiatives his outfit is coming up with, he noted that government is working aggressively to transform schools in villages and towns across the country.

Speaking to journalists at the Bosomtwe Constituency, the minister who is also the Member of Parliament for the area added that aside from Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education which is expected to receive a big boost this year, the creative arts education space would be given the needed attention.

He further added that, government is making preparations to open the first creative arts senior high school at Kwadaso in the Ashanti region which is under construction.

“In 2023, we are going to pursue the various government policies in education. Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics education is going to get a boost. We are making preparations to open the Creative Arts Senior High School in Kumasi, Kwadaso.”

“In addition, our communities of excellence programme, where we transform schools in our villages and towns, is also going to see implementation this year”.

“National Education Leadership Institute- an opportunity to train the 21st Century leaders in educational institutions is going to see a start in the 2023 year. So, it’s going to be an exciting year for those of us in education and an exciting year for the country as a whole”.
