Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF) has clarified the winner of the recently held 2023 Robofest World Championship in Michigan, United States.

Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation (GRAF) is the representative of Robofest in Ghana.

Some news reports claimed that one of the participating teams from Ghana, Prempeh College, was crowned the overall winner of the championship.

However, Dr. Yaw Okraku-Yirenkyi, the International Director for Robofest in Ghana and Country Director for GRAF’s Robotics Inspired Science Education (RiSE) programme, has clarified that a team from Taiwan won the 2023 Robofest World Championship.

“The championship was won by a team from Taiwan. Even though three of Ghana’s nine teams performed very well, unfortunately, none of them (i.e. neither from junior nor senior) won the overall championship, which is awarded to the winner of the GAME-SUPPLY CHAIN challenge,” Dr. Okraku-Yirenkyi noted.

The Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation Director further explained that Prempeh College was awarded trophies for emerging first in the Bottlesumo Unlimited category.

“BOTTLESUMO UNLIMITED: 1st: OLETHROS (Prempeh College, Kumasi) – awarded trophy, BOTTLESUMO TIME.1st: OLETHROS (Prempeh College, Kumasi) – awarded trophy,” he stated.
