The Upper East Regional  National Disaster Management Organization(NADMO), has provided relief items for flood victims in the Kologo community in the Kassena-Nankana municipality.

Torrential rains on 24th August 2018, flooded the community collapsing hundreds of households, as affected community members sought refuge in the Kologo primary school.

The floods affected 919 houses and completely collapsed 67 of them.

Delivering relief items to the affected persons at Kologo, Deputy Director General of NADMO in-charge of Operations, Abu Ramadan , said government was committed to offering temporary support to the residents until the rains are over.

He indicated that, NADMO would collect the data of all affected persons after the rains have stopped, to provide them with more support to improve their livelihood.

Relief items such as mini bags of rice, cooking oil, mosquito nets, used clothing, plastic buckets and bowls, mattresses, sleeping mats among other items were given to the affected persons.

Some beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to NADMO for the kind support.

Municipal Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana, Williams Aduum, commended NADMO for their timely response to the plight of the affected persons.

He appealed to residents in the area to be disaster-conscious and adhere to the warning signs given by NADMO to prevent further eventualities.

Upper East Regional Director of NADMO, Jerry Asamani, entreated residents to report to NADMO on time when disaster strikes.
